THEORY COURSES

The Digital Theory courses are self-contained, independent study experiences that address all expectations articulated in the syllabus and include a series of embedded assessments.

Students will experience the Digital Theory courses through exposure to a variety of interactive elements that situate theory as an essential component of well-rounded musical training. The approach aims to engage the visual, tactile, and auditory learner.

Prep–Level 4

The Preparatory through Level 4 Theory Apps introduce students to the basic elements of music and the concepts covered are strongly recommended for concurrent study at each practical level. The Elementary Theory levels are not tested with formal examinations. Their purpose is to provide a foundation for well-rounded training and lifelong music making. The concepts addressed in these levels include:

The Level 5 through Level 8 Theory App based courses build on the foundations established at the Elementary levels and further develops students’ understanding of notational conventions, analysis, melody and composition, and music history. The concepts addressed in these levels include:
