Teacher and Artist Training: What we offer

Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Music EducationAdvanced Certificate in Early Childhood Music Education
The only program of its kind in North America, this certificate combines the quality and scope of music training at The Conservatory with the exceptional child development curriculum of Ryerson University. There are two intake periods: February 1 and April 1, 2016.

Kodaly Teacher Training Level 1 and Level 2Kodály Teacher Training: Level 1 and Level 2
The famous Kodály method develops the ability to read, write, hear, and think musically through singing. These courses are part of a three-level certificate program that explores the teaching philosophy and method originated by Zoltán Kodály. Students who successfully complete all three levels receive a certificate issued by The Royal Conservatory with the Kodály Society of Canada.

Orff Teacher Training Intro Level 1 Level 2 Level 3Orff Teacher Training: Intro, Level 1, 2, and 3
The Orff philosophy is an internationally recognized approach to teaching music in schools or group classes, fully aligned with the Ontario arts curriculum. Participants in the Intro, Level I and II courses have the opportunity to complete additional components in order to receive credit for the Additional Qualification courses Primary /Junior Music – Focus on Orff, Parts 1, 2 and 3. We also offer Summer Master Classes and Workshops with Internationally Renowned Clinicians. Check out our offerings for the 2016-17 academic year and for Summer 2017!

Suzuki Teacher Training Violin Cello and PianoSuzuki Teacher Training: Violin, Cello and Piano
The Royal Conservatory, in collaboration with the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA), offers courses in Suzuki education and professional development in Suzuki violin, cello, and piano.

Music in Early ChildhoodMusic in Early Childhood
Daily lectures and discussions, musicianship classes and participation in children’s games challenge participants to aspire to be better musicians and teachers. Special events include observation classes, opportunities to practice teach, and lectures by guest clinicians. Available in the summer semester only from July 17 to July 28. Registration opens March 15, 2017.

The Lois Birkenshaw-Fleming Scholarship
The Lois Birkenshaw-Fleming Creative Teaching Scholarship is available to applicants who are registered for the courses listed below at The Royal Conservatory School.  Application Form deadline is March 10, 2017.
